Students from polytechnic institutes have blocked the Satrasta intersection in Tejgaon, Dhaka, protesting the alleged destruction of the technical education system and the shrinking of engineering job opportunities. They also demanded the implementation of their three-point charter of demands.

The protest disrupted traffic at the intersection around 11:15 am. The students’ demands include ensuring the highest punishment for those who threatened to publicly shoot and behead diploma engineers, immediately halting all activities supporting the demands of BSc engineering students, and fully implementing the six-point demands placed by the Technical Students’ Movement according to its outlined recommendations.

Earlier, the movement had announced a nationwide “protest and sit-in programme” on Wednesday, involving students from all polytechnic institutes.
