Despite a request from the International Cricket Council (ICC), the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has remained firm on its decision not to travel to India to play matches in the upcoming T20 World Cup.
Citing security concerns, the board has once again informed the ICC of its stance. BCB has also renewed its request for Bangladesh’s matches to be hosted in a country outside India.
These details were shared in a press release following a video conference between the BCB and the ICC held on Tuesday afternoon.
According to the release, BCB President Aminul Islam, Vice Presidents Md. Sakhawat Hossain and Faruk Ahmed, Cricket Operations Committee Chairman Nazmul Abedin, and Chief Executive Officer Nizamuddin Chowdhury attended the meeting on behalf of the board.
The BCB stated that, considering the current security situation in India, it is standing by its earlier decision not to send the national team there. During the meeting, the ICC requested the BCB to reconsider its position, noting that the World Cup schedule has already been announced. However, the BCB did not change its stance.
Both the ICC and the BCB have agreed to seek a resolution to the issue through continued discussions. It was also decided that talks between the two parties would continue in the coming days.
