The Election Commission (EC) on Saturday continued the eighth day of appeal hearings concerning the acceptance and rejection of nomination papers for the 13th Jatiya Sangsad elections.
The hearings began at 10 a.m. at the EC auditorium (Basement-2) in Agargaon, with the full Commission, chaired by Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin, presiding over the proceedings.
A total of 100 appeals, numbered 511 to 610, were scheduled to be heard between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m., with a one-hour recess at noon.
On the seventh day, the Commission heard 43 appeals, approving 18 against rejected nominations, dismissing 17, and keeping four pending. Four appeals challenging accepted nominations were also dismissed.
The appeal hearings are set to conclude on Sunday, covering appeals numbered 611 to 645, along with any remaining pending cases.
Earlier, Returning Officers had declared 1,842 nomination papers valid and rejected 723 out of 2,568 submissions across 300 parliamentary constituencies.
