Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed has said the government will take a final decision on the implementation of the National Pay Commission’s recommendations after the commission submits its report.

He made the remarks while speaking to journalists on Friday afternoon after visiting the Gurudaspur Upazila Mini Stadium in Natore.

Dr Salehuddin said the National Pay Commission was formed after a gap of 10 to 12 years and is working sincerely. Once the report is submitted, the government will carefully review it before taking any decision on implementation. He noted that several factors must be considered, with the availability of funds being the most important. He urged all concerned to remain patient.

Responding to a question about a referendum, the finance adviser said the government supports reforms through a referendum to reflect the will of the people. He added that significant progress has already been made in reform initiatives and the referendum is intended to support future governments in continuing the reform process.
