“Bangladesh top the table after thrashing Nepal”

Bangladesh defeated Nepal 3–0 in their third match of the SAFF Women’s Futsal Championship, soaring to the top of the tournament points table with a dominant performance. In the match held on Monday at the Nonthaburi Stadium in Bangkok, captain Sabina Khatun put Bangladesh ahead in the 14th minute. With that goal, her tally in the tournament rose to four.

Before Nepal could recover from the opening goal, Krishna Rani Sarkar doubled the lead in the 19th minute. Bangladesh went into the break with a 2–0 advantage and continued to dominate in the second half.

Bangladesh sealed the victory with a brilliant goal from Lipi Akter. At the other end, goalkeeper Swapna Akter Jhili guarded the post like a vigilant sentry throughout the match, ensuring a clean sheet for Bangladesh.

After three matches in the seven-team tournament, Bangladesh now sit joint top of the table with Pakistan on seven points.

Earlier, Bangladesh made a strong start by defeating India in their opening match of the tournament. In their second match, Sabina and her teammates staged a thrilling comeback after trailing Bhutan 3–1, eventually settling for an exciting 3–3 draw.
