Iran at a Crossroads: Protests Subside, but Pressure on the Regime Intensifies

Street protests in Iran have largely subsided following mass arrests and strict security measures. Authorities appear to have regained control, with thousands detained and assets seized over alleged support for unrest. However, analysts warn that the underlying grievances remain unresolved.

A collapsing economy, decades of sanctions, and growing regional setbacks have pushed Iran into a critical phase. Inflation has surged, living conditions have deteriorated, and public trust in the regime’s long-standing security guarantees has weakened.

Experts say Iran now faces a decisive choice: pursue difficult compromises to ease sanctions and reform the economy, or risk deeper instability and potentially larger uprisings. With power gradually shifting toward military institutions, many believe significant change in Iran’s political structure is now inevitable.
