Ferry Carrying 359 People Sinks in the Philippines, 15 Dead, Hundreds Rescued

A passenger ferry carrying 359 people sank off the southern coast of the Philippines, leaving at least 15 people dead. Authorities confirmed that 316 passengers and crew members were rescued alive, while dozens remain missing.

The ferry was travelling from Zamboanga City to Jolo Island when it sent a distress signal shortly before sinking near Basilan province. Rescue operations involving the coast guard, navy, and air force are ongoing as search efforts intensify.

Officials said most of the rescued passengers are in stable condition, though several elderly survivors required urgent medical attention.
