BNP Chairperson Tarique Rahman has arrived in Mymensingh to take part in the election campaign ahead of the 13th National Parliamentary Election. On Tuesday (27 January) at around 11:00 am, he departed from Gulshan in Dhaka by road and reached Mymensingh city in the afternoon.

After taking a brief rest at the district Circuit House, Tarique Rahman is scheduled to address an election rally at the Circuit House ground as the chief guest.

Meanwhile, the electoral landscape in Mymensingh has taken on a different dimension, as eight out of the district’s 11 parliamentary constituencies are witnessing the presence of rebel candidates. According to local political observers, rebel candidates have a strong chance of winning in at least five of these constituencies.

Sources said that due to the influence of these rebel candidates, a significant portion of their supporters did not attend the rally.

On the ground, it was observed that although the rally was scheduled to begin at 2:00 pm, Tarique Rahman had not yet arrived at the stage by that time. However, leaders and activists from various police stations and wards across Mymensingh city were seen arriving at the venue in small processions.

To mark Tarique Rahman’s visit, large portraits of him and BNP founder Ziaur Rahman have been prominently displayed at key intersections and roads across Mymensingh city, adding to the festive political atmosphere surrounding his arrival.
