The newly appointed Minister for Local Government, Rural Development, and Cooperatives has described the recent national election as inclusive and widely acceptable.

Speaking to journalists at the Secretariat on his first working day, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said both national and international observers viewed the election positively.

Responding to questions about the absence of certain major political parties, he emphasized that the election met global standards of inclusiveness. According to him, broad participation made the process credible and trustworthy.

He also noted that decisions regarding political matters would be taken collectively by the government after internal discussions. No hasty announcements, he said, would be made.

Regarding the interim government’s performance, the minister praised its role in guiding the country through a difficult transition to democracy. He stated that their contributions deserved recognition.

Political analysts believe such remarks aim to strengthen public confidence in the new administration. By highlighting inclusiveness and transparency, the government seeks to consolidate its legitimacy.

As the new leadership moves forward, citizens are now expecting concrete reforms and effective governance to match these commitments.
