Turkish overseas aid body, Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) has provided 2500 food parcels to Bangladesh as part of its humanitarian efforts during Ramadan, an official release said.

The Türkiye's state-run agency distributed the food parcels containing essential items in several locations of Bangladesh.

TIKA has also extended its support to 1000 Rohingya families by providing cooked meals daily throughout the holy month of Ramadan in Camp-16 in Ukhiya of Cox's Bazar, the TIKA press release said here today.

TIKA distributed the Ramadan food parcels in two phases. In the first phase, essential foodstuffs were delivered to deprived people with laying priority to the disabled and orphans in Dhaka, Narsingdi, Lalmonirhat, Saidpur, Kustia, Gazipur, and Meherpur.

In the second phase, the agency concluded the distribution of food supplies in Khulna, Noakhali, and Bhola in the southern region of Bangladesh and Sreemangal in the northern region.

Local lawmakers and municipality officials participated in the distribution ceremonies alongside TIKA officials.

At least 5000 Rohingya families benefited from the distribution programme planning to cover all families living in Camp-16, the release said.

TIKA was established in 1992, and its journey in Bangladesh started in 2014 with the establishment of the Dhaka Programme Coordination Office. This office also oversees TIKA's projects in Maldives, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Bhutan.

To date, TIKA implemented more than 200 development cooperation projects across Bangladesh.
