A notification for the formation of a search committee to establish the Election Commission will be issued within a day or two (Tuesday or Wednesday), according to Dr. Asif Nazrul, Adviser for Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs.

Speaking to journalists on Tuesday (October 29) after a meeting with the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights at the Secretariat, Dr. Nazrul shared this update.

When asked if the elections were discussed in the meeting, he said, "There was no discussion about the elections. But I can tell you this—our government has already initiated the process of moving towards elections. You could say the journey towards elections has begun."

He further added, "The search committee for forming the Election Commission has been established. As far as I know, the notification will be issued once our Chief Adviser, Dr. Muhammad Yunus, signs it. You might hear the announcement today or tomorrow."

Dr. Nazrul mentioned that once the search committee is formed, the Election Commission will be established. "When the Election Commission is formed, the voter list will be addressed... As I’ve said before, there were many questions about the voter list. The previous election was so fraudulent that no one even cared about the voter list," he remarked.
