Regarding security arrangements for Christmas celebrations, Md Masud Karim, Chief of the Counter-Terrorism and Transnational Crime Unit (CTTC), announced that specialized units, including SWAT and the Bomb Disposal Team, will be on duty.

This statement was made on Tuesday (24 December) after observing a security drill at St Mary's Cathedral Church located in Kakrail, Ramna, in the capital.

The CTTC Chief stated that on Wednesday (25 December), on the occasion of Christmas, the main festival of the Christian community, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has implemented all necessary security measures. Adequate numbers of police personnel, both in plain clothes and uniform, have been deployed in every church across the city.

Mentioning that the army is also working alongside the police, he added, "They are also active on the ground. With everyone's cooperation, Christmas will be celebrated in a joyful and peaceful atmosphere."

When asked by journalists about security concerns during Christmas, CTTC Chief Masud Karim replied, "So far, we have no information regarding any threats. However, we remain highly vigilant. Like every year, this year's Christmas will also be celebrated smoothly and in a festive spirit."

Earlier, the DMP's CTTC unit conducted a drill at St. Mary's Cathedral Church demonstrating how SWAT, the Bomb Disposal Team, and the K-9 unit would handle emergency situations.

Senior officers from the DMP and the Father of St. Mary's Cathedral Church were present during the drill.
