BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir commented that an unelected government should not be allowed to run the country in the name of reforms.

He made this statement on Saturday (December 28) at a discussion meeting at the capital's National Press Club.

Mirza Fakhrul said that without initiatives for good governance and reducing public suffering alongside reforms, the goals will not be achieved. He also emphasized that attacking political parties and speaking harshly will not solve any crisis.

He noted that advisors are getting involved in politics, making comments about political parties, which he said is not appropriate.

The BNP Secretary General also mentioned that the advisors are not talking to political parties or helping them. He reminded us that political parties are never the government's opponents.

He added that if Allah wills, BNP will return to power again, stating that they had been in power before. He emphasized that they never did politics for power.

Mirza Fakhrul also pointed out that it was Ziaur Rahman who started the reform process, and he restored multi-party democracy, reversing the one-party system imposed by the Awami League.
