The International Criminal Tribunal has issued arrest warrants against 11 individuals, including former Prime Minister and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina, in connection with the enforced disappearances that occurred over the past 15 years.

On Monday (January 6), under the leadership of Justice Golam Mortuza Majumder, the tribunal issued the warrants.

Additionally, the tribunal has instructed that the accused be arrested and presented before the tribunal by February 12.

Among those against whom arrest warrants have been issued are former Defence Advisor, retired Major General Tariq Ahmed Siddique, and former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Benazir Ahmed.

In connection with this case, the former Director General of NTMC, Ziaul Ahsan, has already been arrested.

During the hearing, Chief Prosecutor Advocate Tajul Islam stated that the Awami League introduced a culture of enforced disappearances with state sponsorship. Those involved in disappearances were rewarded. He also mentioned that the RAB, DB, CTTC, and DGFI were the most involved in enforced disappearances.
