Leaders of Nirapon, an organization dedicated to improving worker safety in Bangladesh's factories, met with Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus at the State Guest House Jamuna on Tuesday.

The team, led by Simone Sultana, chair of Nirapon, and Tapan Chowdhury, an independent director, was joined by representatives from top Western brands and retailers.

During the meeting, the Chief Adviser assured the officials that the interim government is committed to implementing significant labor reforms to align the country’s labor laws with ILO standards. He mentioned that changes would be visible soon.

Lutfey Siddiqi, Special Envoy of the Chief Adviser, highlighted the 18-point agreement signed with labor unions and manufacturers, which has helped stabilize the sector and boost garment exports.

Simon Sultana thanked the government for initiating reforms in the garment industry and emphasized Nirapon's role, alongside local partners BRAC and Amader Kotha, in providing innovative safety solutions for factories.

Representatives from Western brands expressed satisfaction with the improvements in factory safety in Bangladesh.
