Dhaka ranked 15th among cities with the worst air quality, posting an AQI score of 96 at 9 am on Sunday (April 27).

Classified as "moderate," the air poses some threat, especially to sensitive individuals who are advised to limit prolonged outdoor activities.

Meanwhile, Delhi, Lahore, and Kathmandu topped the list with far higher AQI levels.

Dhaka, often battling pollution, sees its air worsen in winter and improve during monsoon, with health experts warning of serious global risks linked to air pollution.

According to Health Organization (WHO), air pollution kills an estimated seven million people worldwide every year, mainly due to increased mortality from stroke, heart disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, lung cancer, and acute respiratory infections.
