The interim government has decided to observe July 16 as July Shaheed Day and August 5 as Mass Uprising Day.

Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam confirmed the decision on Sunday (June 29).

There will be no special observance for August 8, he added.

Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus chaired the meeting of the Council of Advisers at the Chief Adviser’s Office in Tejgaon.

The government had earlier declared August 5 as July Uprising Day and 8 August as New Bangladesh Day.

Notably, August 8 marks the formation of the interim government following the fall of the previous administration amid a mass uprising.
