Singapore medical team begins work at burn institute following plane crash

A medical team from Singapore has started work at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, assisting with the treatment of patients affected by the recent plane crash at Milestone School and College, reports TBS.

According to Dr Moinul Ahsan, director of Hospitals and Clinics at the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), the medical board is currently reviewing the patients' conditions.

Further details will be shared at a press briefing scheduled for 3pm today.

Among the team members is Dr Chong Si Jack, senior consultant at Singapore General Hospital, who has been actively supporting the local medical team following the incident. He arrived in the country last night, accompanied by Vijaya Rao, senior director at SingHealth, Poon Lai Kuan, and Lim Yu Han Jovan.

The initiative is being taken under an existing MoU between the Burn Institute and Singapore General Hospital, Special Assistant to the chief adviser Sayedur Rahman said during a briefing at the burn institute yesterday (22 July).

On 21 July, a Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) F-7 BGI fighter jet crashed into the Diabari campus of Milestone College in the capital's Uttara shortly after takeoff, sparking a massive fire.

The plane had taken off from BAF Base Bir Uttom AK Khandker at 1:06pm and crashed due to a technical failure, according to the ISPR.

So far, deaths of 29 children and three adults, including the pilot and a teacher of Milestone, have been officially confirmed.
