BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said, ‘We have to take this oath today that we will not allow fascist Hasina to do politics in this country anymore.’

“Fascist Hasina has taken shelter in our neighboring country with her people. Sitting there, they are conspiring within the country. We have to counter those conspiracies,” he said.

He said this in his speech at the ‘Student Gathering’ of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal on the occasion of the first anniversary of the July Uprising, Mourning and Victory at Shahbagh in the capital on Sunday afternoon.

The activities of the student gathering officially began with the recitation of the Holy Quran. At the beginning of the gathering, a minute’s silence was observed in memory of the martyrs of July and the national anthem was sung in unison.

Chhatra Dal organizing secretary Aman Ullah Aman delivered the welcome speech at the gathering. Earlier, Chhatra Dal general secretary Nasir Uddin Nasir remembered the leaders and activists of the organization who sacrificed their lives in the movement and struggle in the last 15 years.

BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir arrived at the rally venue at 3 pm. Before that, BNP senior leaders Shamsuzzaman Dudu, Khairul Kabir Khokon, Habib-Un Nabi Khan Sohel and former central leaders of Chhatra Dal were staying on the stage.

About an hour before the rally started, a large number of Chhatra Dal activists and supporters filled the Shahbagh intersection and the surrounding area. As per the central decision, leaders and activists of various units and district branches participated in this year's rally without banners, festoons and placards.
