Ex-addl IGP Shamsuddoha arrested from his own resort

Police arrested former Additional Inspector General of Police (IGP) Shamsuddoha in a cheque fraud case on Sunday.

He was detained from his own resort, Wonderland Green Park, in Nawabganj of Dhaka. Confirming the matter, Nawabganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mominul Islam said that Shamsuddoha was produced before the court following his arrest.

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has already filed a charge sheet against Shamsuddoha and his wife Ferdousi Sultana in a case over amassing illegal wealth.

According to the charge sheet, the couple is accused of concealing information and unlawfully acquiring assets worth Tk66.48 crore. ACC sources confirmed the matter.

The charge sheet was submitted in July last year by the case investigation officer, ACC Assistant Director Khorshed Alam, to the court of Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Mohammad Assamch Jaglul Hossain.
