Dhaka Metropolitan Detective (DB) Police have arrested former secretary Abu Alam Md Shahid Khan. He was detained from Borak Tower in the capital’s Eskaton area around 12:00 pm on Monday (8 September).

Mohammad Nasirul Islam, Joint Commissioner of DB Police, confirmed the arrest to Jago News. He said the former secretary was held in a case filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act at Shahbagh Police Station. Abu Alam will be produced before the court today.

Muhammad Talebur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner of DMP, said that along with Abu Alam, a total of six people—including five others who took part in a sudden procession—were arrested in the Shahbagh case.

Abu Alam previously served as Deputy Press Secretary to the Prime Minister during the Awami League government from 1996 to 2001.
